No Woman Should Suffer From PMS or Menstrual Cramps

  • 5 min read

Do you feel like you turn into a different person right before your period starts? When we have mood swings every month, it’s not because it is who we are as women, but it is because of the fluctuation of hormones that go through our bodies during that time of the month. Women shouldn't have to suffer. Women should embrace their beautiful femininity and not endure all the symptoms accompanied by their monthly periods.

Nearly 33 million American women suffer from menstrual cramps ranging from the ages of 15 to 49 years old. On average, each woman will have 450 periods over their lifetime. If you have 2 very painful days each cycle, you have 2.5 years of blanket suffering. Compared to men who don't have to go through any of the pains associated with the female reproductive system, this sounds pretty unfair, right?

Severe PMS and menstrual pains are not normal. After seeing over 100,000 patients and 30 years of clinical research, Dr. Jing Liu, OMD, PHD has created Ease the Flow. Sol Nutrition’s herbal blend is a solution created through ancient herbal remedies that treat the underlying causes of PMS triggers.

Your monthly cycle is often accompanied by cramps, back pain, headaches, irritability, and mood swings. These symptoms usually occur in an anticipated pattern depending on the time of the month. For some women, the emotional stress and physical discomfort can be enough to affect daily activities. Chemical changes in the brain, such as fluctuations of serotonin can contribute to PMS.

Why do I feel this way?

Generally, symptoms of PMS begin in the “luteal phase” of a woman’s cycle, which is the time after ovulation and before the start of menstrual bleeding; in other words, usually about 2 weeks before the period starts. They are usually steady from month to month, as the hormone fluctuations follow the same pattern during each cycle.

Estradiol rises steadily in the stage before ovulation (this can be referred to as the follicular phase) and then spikes sharply and drops suddenly during ovulation. It then gradually rises with a smaller peak in the luteal phase and drops again at the start of a women’s period.

Progesterone remains low during the follicular phase but starts to rise after ovulation and spikes in the middle of the luteal phase, just when symptoms are also spiking. Progesterone levels then start to decrease just before the onset of menses and are low throughout the period.

Period Pains, also known as dysmenorrhea, are a common experience for many women during their menstrual cycle. They are characterized by cramping in the lower abdomen and lower back and other symptoms such as headaches, nausea, and fatigue.

The cause of period pains is still not fully understood, but it is believed to be related to the production and release of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are hormone-like substances produced by the lining of the uterus. They trigger and regulate the uterus' contractions during menstruation. Below we list common period pains and how the ingredients of Sol Nutrition's Ease The Flow can help you through your cycle.

Breast Discomfort

A menstrual cycle is common in women and is often called a "cyclical mastalgia." The leading cause of breast pain during the menstrual cycle comes from hormonal changes in the body. During the process, the levels of estrogen and progesterone fluctuate, which can cause the breast tissue to become swollen and tender. Sol Nutrition added Motherwort as it contains anti-inflammatory properties that inhibit the production of prostaglandins which cast menstrual cramps & hormone imbalances—also supporting the body and reducing any cramps and discomfort. Moutan Cortex is an elite choice for dealing with painful menstrual symptoms.

Headaches & Back Pain

Ease the Flow helps your body by regulating the blood flow, easing the pain of cramps, controlling menstrual blood flow, easing back pain, and helping control bloating. This formula contains Nutgrass Rhizome which supports gastrointestinal tract wellness and benefits bone and joint health. It promotes skin health, respiratory health, and oral health. In addition, Nutgrass Rhizome contains anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial, antifungal, and antimicrobial effects based on the research.

Hormonal Acne

The helpful root of Red Peony is high in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties that support your body by easing the pain caused by your menstrual cycle and lessening hormonal acne.

Mood Swings

Angelica Root is considered both a blood mover and a blood nourisher. It is used for menstrual cramps, mood swings, anxiety, intestinal gas, heartburn, and tiredness. It also eases nervousness and trouble sleeping.

Studies have demonstrated Angelica's usefulness in gynecological problems, including uterine cramping, functional ovarian disorders, infertility, PMS, dysmenorrhea (painful menses), metrorrhagia (excessive bleeding), amenorrhea (absence of menses), chronic miscarriage, menopausal complaints.

Nausea, Bloating & Cramps

The original discovery of ginger's inhibitory effects on prostaglandin biosynthesis (pro-inflammatory chemicals). It has been repeatedly confirmed by science to relieve menstrual pain dating back to the 1970s. Prostaglandins help the uterus contract during menstruation and shed its lining. However, excessive prostaglandins have been linked to menstrual cramps and severe pain. Ginger can help reduce this!

Because of its warming properties, ginger has been found to be particularly effective in cases where menstrual cramps tend to feel better with a heating pad. To alleviate these cramps, you must consume 6g of raw ginger daily. In addition, ginger is known for its science-backed range of benefits, which is why Sol Nutrition implements it into the Ease The Flow herbal formula.

In addition to ginger, research has also shown that Biota seeds help metabolize the prostaglandin which casts menstrual cramps and hormone imbalances. It is also used as a sedative, to help disperse anxiety, fear, and insomnia. It is also used to alleviate symptoms of mild heart palpitations, nervous disorders, night sweats, and constipation.

Tension & Irritability

Sol Nutrition decided to add Fructus Gardenia into Ease The Flow because Fructus Gardenia is commonly used for irritability, restlessness, insomnia, delirium, or chest constriction in traditional medicine. In addition, it may eliminate swelling and move Blood Stagnation; it is an exceptionally safe anti-inflammatory.

Menstruation doesn’t have to hurt

From the blood and bloating to mood swings, and cramps, menstruation can become demanding for many women (myself included). For mood swings we suggest to take Monthly Mood, but we wish that we could spend a week in bed binge watching our guilty pleasure tv shows while eating all the snacks we crave. However, this fantasy is unrealistic, and we can't hide out from the world every time we get our period. That is why Sol Nutrition has done the research and testing so that you don't have to. The clinically proven herbal ingredients in Ease The Flow helps relieve headaches and back pain, hormonal acne, mood swings, nausea, bloating, and cramping, and aid in stabilizing hormonal imbalances thanks to our potent herbal blend. Menstruation doesn't have to hurt. Ease The Flow can naturally reduce the worst symptoms of your period.
